As a welcome side effect of our efforts here at fabeetle, we have been introduced to a number of great people and I wanted to take a second to point out a piece that I thought was pretty valuable. Zahid Jafry contacted us very early on and has been a huge supporter of our mission. Zahid is the founder of Onus Consulting Group a Canadian based company that helps investors find competent council - much like fabeetle. In browsing his site early on I came across his "Investors Awareness Kit" and felt it was a very well done piece. I asked Zahid if he would be comfortable with us highlighting it on our blog and he thankfully said yes. You can see his caption below and follow the link to download the PDF.

The Investor Awareness Kit was pretty much the first thing I wrote when I founded Onus Consulting Group. At the time, it was basically a collection of information that a financial advisor might have inadvertently left out when presenting certain investments or fee structures to a client. For the last couple years, as I've gone through a couple more editions, it has served me as a bit of a manifesto. A manifesto in terms of getting people to expect a more holistic approach from their financial advisors. The booklet was to back up the company's mission to promote a more strigent criteria of qualifying financial advisors.

As you probably notice, it's not the most aesthetically presented...nor is it as easy to read as a Hardy Boys book. However, the real gist of the material is on page v (before the Preface) and the rest of the booklet just goes into details backing those points. While certain professionals might have written extensive books on the subject, I just wanted the vital content in one resource available to an individual to just grab.
